We have been keeping an eye on this for a number of months. Sri Lanka is experiencing an extreme deficiency of hard money, caused, to some extent, by an absence of travelers during the pandemic.
The public authority is battling to import fuel and different imports to the level required. There are lines at gas stations and daily power outages as a result of these shortages, which are significantly affecting the lives of Sri Lankans.
We wanted to reassure our customers that there will be little effect on their Sri Lanka vacation. The lodgings we use have generators and can run them during power cuts, which are, anyway, to be expected in Sri Lanka.
Our Sri Lankan office has a generator so that our partners and staff can carry on as usual. Hotels’ menus will be shorter than usual, but the mouthwatering “rice and curry” spreads will still be available because they use mostly local ingredients.
