We have been observing this present circumstance for a long time now. A lack of tourists during the pandemic may have contributed to Sri Lanka’s severe hard currency shortage. The government is having trouble importing enough fuel and other goods.
There are lines at gas stations and daily power outages as a result of these shortages, which are significantly affecting the lives of Sri Lankans.
We wanted to reassure our customers that there will be little effect on their Sri Lanka vacation. During power outages, which are, in any case, not uncommon in Sri Lanka, the hotels we stay in have generators that can be turned on.
Our Sri Lankan office has a generator so that our partners and staff can carry on as usual. Hotels’ menus will be shorter than usual, but the mouthwatering “rice and curry” spreads will still be available because they use mostly local ingredients.
