One of Hampi’s most important attractions is the Elephant Stables, built during the Vijayanagara Empire’s reign in the 15th century. These stables were constructed using an Indo-Islamic architectural style.
There are approximately eleven dome-shaped chambers that were once used to park royal elephants. Two elephants can be accommodated in each chamber at once. The fact that some of these domes are connected to one another lends the building as a whole a symmetrical appearance. Visitors are welcome here from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
