The invitees at Goan Catholic weddings, from young to old, spend the majority of the reception on the dance floor and only take their seats when they need to eat or take a break from dancing. Watching something happen in front of me made me feel more alive than I had ever felt before.

We danced, ate, and drank with a few people we met. We were served canapés, cutlets, and fried chicken as appetizers at the wedding reception. Bread rolls, noodles, pulao, sorpotel, a Goan and Mangalorean traditional spicy pork curry, two types of salad, and beef stew were all part of the buffet-style main course.
