A lot depends on being in the right place at the right time in Cuba. As a result, if you hear about a free concert, don’t miss out on it. Concerts that are either free or very cheap are sometimes held at the well-known Plaza de la Revolución, along the Malecón, or in a variety of other locations.

Cuba’s annual techno festival is great for fans of electro, and international icons like the Rolling Stones have performed there in the past. During our stay, we had the opportunity to see Cimafunk, a well-known Afro-Cuban funk singer, for free!

Even though we discovered that the technology wasn’t always up to par, the crowds made up for it, matching the performers’ enthusiasm. A lively atmosphere and impromptu dance-offs are to be expected. Ask around because these events are mostly unknown to tourists and spread by word of mouth.
