If you’ve been to Egypt at all, you probably have a picture of the pyramids in the background. Imagine yourself holding the Pisa Tower if you went to Italy. However, how many of them are even able to provide a brief history of those locations?
Every day, more and more people are going on vacation. 500 million people visit New York in a single season. That amounts to roughly half of China’s population. Thankfully, the city is large and its streets are designed to accommodate the large number of people. They can also be remodeled and rebuilt in the event that they do not.
However, we will no longer be able to claim that we have preserved history if we rebuild San Marco Square or Notre Dame de Paris. The huge numbers of people who come to see these amazing historical sites every day ruin them.
